Classes

The 2014 Block of the Month will be Black and White fabrics. The fee is $20 to join and all rules apply as in previous block of the month programs at Thimbles. You will receive fabric to complete the 12" finished block every month. However, this year, we are encouraging you to take your 12" finished blocks and make them into 20" blocks by adding borders or smaller blocks or whatever you fancy. This will give you a 60" x 80" quilt (before borders). Tho help you along, we will give you suggestions for different borders each month. Use them or come up with your own. This B.O.M will start the second weekend in September, which means that you can come in on Friday, September 12th, Saturday, September 13th or Sunday, September 14th.

2015 All About ME (Machine Embroidery) Club will share with you the latest in embroidery, using trendy new patterns and accessories. This Club is for everyone (not just BERNINA owners). Each "live session" will incorporate a presentation by Kay Hickman followed by a hands on session by Laurie Albrecht. Lessons focus on machine embroidery techniques, stabilizers, embroidery designs and collections. Become empowered and enjoy embroidery success. You will receive project tips and handouts, PDF of Powerpoint used in lesson and a design of the month.

Join Lynn in exchanging as many houses as you bring in to complete a large or small Block House quilt. To start this exchange off Lynn will be giving a paper-piecing demo on November 1st at 1:00. She will show a few blocks, explain the rules, and hand out kits and patterns. This will all be included in the $15 start-up fee. Additional kits will also be available for purchase so that everyone is getting the same quality fabric to complete the blocks. This exchange will last 6 months so theres no need to feel rushed. (If more time is needed we will extend the program)

2015 Hoopsisters Block of the Month program - Sewn Seeds. With HoopSisters you can make perfectly quilted, pieced, and decoratively stitched quilt blocks all in the hoop of an embroidery machine. The Sewing Inspiration Club will consist of 10 lessons that incorporate presser feet, accessories, machine and serger techniques in projects for everyday living. This is a lecture/demo class that will meet on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 6pm.

This class explores special techniques for free motion stitching on the Baby Lock Tiara. We will explore using assistance devices to help move any size quilt sandwich. Templates, stencils and specialty rulers help us achieve and create perfect designs. Couching with fibers and Trapunto open exciting possibilities for finishing quilt projects and for creating one of a kind garments and home decor. This class offers inspiration for both Tiara owners and quilters that use domestic machines.
