EVEN MORE Fall Projects to Quilt & Sew Pt 2

Thimbles is back for our sixth—yes, SIXTH—installment of fall projects to quilt and sew. It’s one of our favorite times of year for quilting, so we love to have lots of little project ideas on hand. With this year’s edition, that means there are nearly 50 fall-inspired quilting and sewing projects to choose from. To see them all, check out 10 Fall Quilting & Sewing Projects, Our Favorite Fall Projects, More Fall Projects to Quilt and Sew, and EVEN MORE Fall Quilting Projects for more inspiration!

Tammy’s Scrappy Denim Jacket

Does it feature Halloween fabrics? No. Is it a Thanksgiving table runner? No. But is it perfect for fall? Oh my goodness, you bet it is. We shared the free pattern for Tammy’s Scrappy Denim Jacket earlier this year and we’ve been waiting to share it again because it screams “PERFECT FALL LAYER.” And technically, if you choose spooky scraps, or fabrics in orange, brown, gold, and burgundy, then isn’t that perfectly autumnal??

Candy Corn Mini Quilt

If it has a candy corn on it, we have to share it, because candy corns are Tammy’s favorite Halloween candy. This darling mini quilt features an easy introduction to chain piecing to construct the candy corns. We also love the free motion quilted spider web—and We All Sew’s encouragement that “slightly wonky is great” because spiders don’t take measurements!

Crafty Gemini’s Reversible Pie/Casserole Carrier

‘Tis the season for pies! Apple pies, pumpkin pies, pecan pies—we want them all for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Crafty Gemini’s Reversible Pie/Casserole Carrier is a quick quilting project that makes it easy to carry your delicious treat to the holiday host’s house. Follow along below to make it with her:

Glow Design Treat Bag

Spotting your kids on busy streets packed with trick-or-treaters is so much easier if they glow in the dark. The Glow Design Treat Bag from We All Sew can be whipped up in an hour (!) and the design is really up to you—you just need some glow-in-the-dark thread like Poly Ahrora Glow in the Dark Thread

Raggy Applique Corn-on-the-Cob

We love the look of these Raggy Applique Corn-On-The-Cob by Miriam Rawson. The raggedy texture evokes fall hayrides, corn silk, and hot apple cider. This is a great scrap busting project that has so many applications—attach your raggy applique corn-on-the-cob to pillows, table cloths, kitchen towels, and more.

Selvedge Pumpkins

We’ve seen a lot of fabric pumpkins in our time, but this design from Next Gen Quilting might be our favorite. Amari says this project is budget and beginner friendly and she’s right–if you’ve saved enough selvedges, you can make one of your own. We’d love to stuff these with a sachet of cinnamon, star anise, and cloves to really make it feel like fall. Follow along to make your own here

Double Pot Holder with Hand Pockets

Next to Crafty Gemini’s pie holder, We All Sew’s Double Pot Holder with Hand Pockets is the next quilted accessory you’ll want this season. It’s the perfect pot holder for removing any hot item you’re making from the oven, from Thanksgiving turkeys to green bean casserole, mince meat pie, and Christmas ham. It’s also a great project for beginners, and a fabulous hostess gift!

Apples to Apples

Sharon Holland’s Apples to Apples mug rugs are another great scrap buster project. You only need one fat eighth each in light and dark coordinating prints to make a single apple coaster. These would also make really nice hostess gifts for the holiday season.

Autumn Leaf Placemats

What would fall quilting be without an autumn leaf motif? These Autumn Leaf Placemats from We All Sew are beginner friendly and fast—it should only take a single weekend to make them. The Maple Leaf template is also perfect; in the right fabrics, they should look just like fallen leaves on your table.
